Day trip to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary and around.....
Day trip to Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary and around from Bangalore :)
Ranganathittu is 120Kms from Bangalore close to Srirangapatna.
We started early in the morning as its best to be there early. We had a break at Kamat as usual for breakfast. But as we were really early we did not have much of a choice for breakfast ;)
We reached Ranganathittu at 8:30. Well the place opens by 8 in morning. We could hire a boat there and he will take us around in a row boat explaining us all about the birds. The boat ride is of 30 - 40 mins. There is small island sort of in the middle of the lake where we can view the birds.
Most common migratory birds include painted storks, open billed storks, white ibis, darters, spoonbills and night herons. winter is the best time to visit when it is full of migratory birds.
After the boat ride we around the lake clicking photographs and enjoying the beauty around the lake.
We also thought of some sightseeing around Srirangapatna. We went to Sangam and Gumbaz.
Sangam is the place of religious importance where the 2 rivers meet .There are two shiva lingas where the rivers meet. We took a coracle ride and went past the lingas.
Gumbaz is the Mausoleum of Tipu Sultan (Tiger of Mysore), and his father Hyder Ali and mother Fathima Begam. The Gumbaz has a dome shaped structure, ivory inlaid doors, carved stone windows of fine workmanship and Tiger stripes cover the walls. It is located at Srirangapatna the historical town of the Mysore Kings.
